Cast Iron Welding
All welders will need to weld cast iron at some point in their careers. In fact, it’s a metal that you’re likely to come up against regularly due to its extreme popularity. Cast iron is strong, affordable, and durable, making it the ideal choice for a broad range of applications. It can pose issues due to its makeup, but welding it can be approached with ease as long as you have the right tools and supplies, and the necessary knowledge.
We make welding cast iron more manageable with our electrodes, which have been designed with a metallurgical composition that makes them well-suited to welding cast iron. While most nickel rods used by welders are harder than the base metal, making it tricky to work with cast iron, our electrodes are softer and highly machinable. They have been designed with unique properties so that the weld can stretch up to 300 percent more than other rods. The benefit of this is that the base metal and weld are protected, reducing the likelihood of cracking during welding.
Our cast iron welding products include silver solder rods for brazing cast iron (SSF6), as well as a syringe version of the silver solder (SSQ6). Our three electrodes, 77, 75, and 72, are also available for all of your cast iron welding needs. We aim to always provide innovative and high-quality products to our customers, suited to specific applications and addressing some of the challenges that welders can face.
