Cast Iron Repair Kit for Arc Welding

$145.00

As a craftsman, you’re always looking for better tools to get the job done quicker and more efficiently. When you’re working with large, heavy equipment, repairs are inevitable. Something’s bound to break down or split from overuse. Unfortunately, most cast-iron welding products require you to pull the machine apart completely, isolate the broken component, and place it in the oven before being able to work on it. After you’re done welding the part, you have to wait even longer so it cools down.

Save Time, Money, & Energy

With this capable cast iron repair kit, you don’t have to go through any of these headaches. All you have to do is access the problem area and repair it using our tools. No more stalled projects, idle workers, and money sent right down the drain. This effective repair kit makes it easier than ever to apply the repairs you need to keep working smoothly.

Our cast iron combo repair kit includes:

  • 1/2 lb 77 Electrode (1x)
  • 1/2 lb 72 Electrode (1x)
77 Electrode

The 77 electrode is a premium model that produces crack-resistant, porosity-free, and high-strength welds. It can be used with a wide variety of cast irons, making it suitable for a range of projects. This electrode has a specially designed tri-metal core wire with the capacity to carry high currents. The high-quality coating effectively converts impurities from the base metal into slag so they don’t become stuck in the deposit. The 77 achieves an impressively narrow heat-affected zone with its high deposition rate. This feature is great for nearly all weldable cast irons that require post-weld treatment.

It’s important to keep in mind that 77 cast iron welding rods have special properties allowing the welds to stretch up to 300% more than those of other rods. This reduces the chances of cracking in the welding process.

Highlights:
  • Saves time by eliminating the need for pre-heating and special cooling.
  • Highly efficient weld metal transfer mitigates electrode overheating
  • Allows for more stretching than other rods
  • Perfect for a wide variety of applications (i.e. heavy machinery, automotive, marine, etc.)
72 Electrode

Every craftsman comes across contaminated cast iron when working on a project. The 72 electrode is made with nickel-free cast iron and is specifically designed to lock-in porosity generating pollutants before the 77 electrode finishes off the weld. For all of its strengths and advantages, 77 does struggle to attach to cast iron that’s exceptionally dirty. That’s where the 72 electrode comes into play. It boasts an impressively high penetration, allowing it to anchor deep within the subsurface of cast iron. It seals in void-causing contaminants and can be used as a prep for the 77 electrode. It’s commonly used for cladding operations.

Highlights:
  • Easy color-matching blends in with cast iron for a professional look
  • Makes it easy to clad oil-impregnated and heat oxidized castings
  • It’s designed with a non-conductive flux-coating

Cut down on the time it takes to complete projects with this convenient, innovative, and effective electrode duo!
